Congratulations to Raphael LaRocca on his recent completion and certification as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)!  The AEMT is an intermediate certification between EMT and Paramedic and requires approximately 160 hours of instruction,  which teaches EMTs on the acquisition of 12-lead ECGs, advanced airway maintenance, gaining IV access and the administration of life-saving medications.  At the completion of instruction, all AEMT candidates must undergo a rigorous written and practical examination to ensure their competence in performing these skills.  Although Silver Spring Ambulance and Rescue Association is not an agency in which these services are utilized at this time, we encourage and applaud our providers to seek additional trainings and certifications.
