Silver Spring Ambulance and Rescue Association will be holding an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Course to start on October 10, 2023. Classes will be held Tuesday and Thursday Evenings, as well as two Saturdays per month, and will be held in The George C Weimer, Jr. Training and Development Center located at 12 Eleanor Drive, New Kingstown, Pennsylvania.
Training to become an EMT is approximately 200 hours of classroom instruction with curriculum governed by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The EMT is considered the backbone of Emergency Medical Services in the United States, with training in CPR, trauma care and the administration of life-saving medications, such as oxygen, epinephrine, naloxone and emergency breathing treatments.
